never was much of a diary person...

so i am terrible at keeping this blog up to date. but in my defense it was just christmas and things are beginning to settle down. updates: anna is growing like a weed. she now rolls over from her belly to her back and from her back to her belly. she has not figured out how to get up on all fours yet, but she is getting close. she sleeps for a good 8 to 10 hours every night in her own crib and only wakes up a couple of times if she loses her paci. i just went back to work after being off a week for vacation. it was quite busy before i left, and very busy when i got back. my boss is out for the next week (congrats to him and jami on getting married today!) so there are a couple things that i will try to get out of the way for him. wes is still staying home with anna during the day, but hopefully has a couple of interviews coming up in january.

we had a great christmas. we opened presents at home on the 21st, on the 23rd we went to visit wes' family in glasgow. we stayed there until christmas day. anna got everything under the sun. her aunt sami made her the cutest books and a pink university of kentucky blanket (wes loves it). she made us some ornaments for our christmas tree, i think she felt sorry for the only two that we had on there this year. on christmas night we went to the parksville baptist church for my extended families christmas. dinner, family, fun and gifts, doesn't get much better than that. the day after christmas we went to my parents house for lunch and presents. the whole family was together (usually we are missing a couple) mom, dad, kelly, miah, christian, raanan, lane, eric, iziah, sawyer, jon, amanda (with baby cash in her tummy) wes, anna and myself.....yes it was a houseful! all in all it was a great christmas and anna's first!

Out with the old, In with the new

The time finally came for the Camry to leave the Cash family. My father bought this awesome car back in late 1991 and it has been passed through various family members in the last couple of years. I drove it a little in high school, my sister and her husband had it for a couple of years and for the last couple of months Wes and I were blessed with it's presence. Since Wes drove a truck, there was no way for him to cart Anna around during the day, so my father graciously let us use his 1992 Camry so he wasn't stranded all day in house with Anna. Well this past Tuesday, Wes and Anna were headed to the bank when the Camry broke down and wouldn't start again. Wes thought that I had just neglected to put gas in it, but really it was the fuel pump (I have no clue what this is, but apparently it is too complicated for Wes to fix). So Wednesday night we made a family decision that Wes' truck needed to be traded in for a more reliable family car. I looked through the inventory at work and one of the managers found something we might like. So Wes and I are now the proud owners of an 2003 Ford Explorer. I must admit it is pretty nice. But we had to give up Wes' 1997 Ranger and the 1992 Camry. In support of Toyota, the Camry did have over 255,000 miles on it and was still in good shape! Just upon it's 16th birthday the Camry decided to drive itself up to car heaven! Oh how I'll miss the Camry!

My camera problems are solved!!!!

So it is now officially December, which means that Wes and I cannot wait to open presents! We still don't have out Christmas tree up (which we definitely need to do this year), but we just can't wait. We won't let Anna open hers up til closer to Christmas, but she doesn't care! Well I got just about the coolest thing ever!! I will never again forget to grab my memory card out of my computer before we leave on trips! Want to know why? Because I got an Eye-Fi Wireless Memory Card. All I have to do is go out and take pictures and then when we get home and I turn my internet on.....this nifty card automatically starts uploading the pictures from my camera to my computer and also onto my facebook account! I told Wes about this card about a month ago and when he went to the store to see if they had one, they told him that it was an excellent idea but it would still be a couple of years til it was out on the market! Well, needless to say Jessika was right! You can only buy it online, Wes got this one from Walmart.com. I am so excited!!!
So here is the first picture that we successfully uploaded without any moving around memory cards!

Oops, The Sequel

So stupid me, we went to Glasgow to visit Wes' family for Thanksgiving and I forgot my camera once again. My excuse was that I didn't have time to pack efficiently. I got off work on Wednesday at 4:30, so I was home at 5:15. As soon as I walked in the door, Wes promptly asks "Are you finished packing?" I hadn't even taken my shoes off yet. So I packed real quick like and we were out the door. We got about 10 minutes away when I realized I forgot my camera and the DVD that I made for Wes' parents that has all of Anna's pictures on it in a slideshow with music. (I love this new computer!) So I have to put that in the mail, like yesterday.
One of Anna's favorite things to do is sit on the couch with us and watch tv. She won't take her eyes off of it.
And her favorite thing to watch? One would think it would be cartoons, but no it is this:Yes, that would be a football game. I am officially being out-voted on the tv shows that we watch now.

Oops and New Tricks

So stupid me, we went to Indiana to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family this weekend. I took my camera, but forgot the memory card. I could've had a lot of cute pictures, but oh well. I love seeing all of my family together. There is always something funny that happens. I can't wait until Christmas when we will all be together, including my new brother-in-laws kids.

Anna went to the doctor last Friday and weighed in at 12 lbs and 13 oz. She was 23 1/2 in long. She is now in the 25th percentile (up from the 5th that she was at 2 months). She just keeps growing everyday! The doctor says she is perfect and at 6 months we can try to start feeding her food! She sleeps through the night now and in her own crib!!! She also learned something new. We finally got a couple of clips of it Sunday night.

Finally!!!!!

This time change has knocked me off track. We had a great week and weekend. On Halloween, we all sat outside and handed out candy to the trick or treaters. There were some really cute costumes. Unfortunately, the only costume that Anna had was a Tigger snowsuit, so we dressed her in that. She had fun looking at all the other kids and trying to figure out what they were doing. This weekend, Wes and I went to Gatlinburg, TN and had a great time. We went to Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum, The Aquarium, Hard Rock, Miniature Golf (which I won by two strokes) and went up the sky lift into the mountains (which Wes hated and complained the whole time).

Pictures of beautiful Gatlinburg in the Fall! A couple of our favorite fishies!!
And these two crazy kids are getting married!!! WOO HOO!!!!!

Another Long, Busy Weekend

We had so much to do this weekend...I can't believe it went by so fast and with no big problems. On Saturday, all three of us were going to go to the UK vs Mississippi State football game. We parked at my friends house that lives right across from the stadium, saving us at least 20 bucks for parking. My friend Julie, the ginger, who I absolutely adore, volunteered to watch Anna during the game. Yes, I have great friends. Thanks Julie again for watching Anna!!!! Well the game was awful and we lost by way too much. But this was Wes' first UK football game and we had great seats, fifty yard line, 32 rows up. After the game, we picked up Anna and went back to Nicholasville. My parents stopped by to pick up Anna for the night. Wes and I then went to dinner with my friend David for his birthday....mmmmm Red Lobster! And then to a local pool hall to shoot some balls around the table. Well at least the boys shot pool, while us girls played some erotic photo hunt. Then on Sunday I went to pick up Anna and go to my cousin's baby shower in Danville. Congrats to Kandace and Craig...I can't wait to meet your little guy (although you won't tell us what you are naming him)! Thus it is now Sunday night and I am tired. Hopefully Anna sleeps good tonight! Oh yeah, today is also my friends due date...she hasn't called so I am guessing that Baby Noe is not ready to come out and play yet! Maybe sometime this week...until then Hang In There Marissa!!!

R.I.P. Demi

Such a sad day. I absolutely hate Thursdays anyway....I have to drive Wes' truck to work, traffic is always the worst this day of the week, I don't get to see Anna when I get home (she is at her grandparents for the night) and I have to wake up early on Friday mornings and be at work at 7:30....So the day just sucks as a whole. Well today my brother came into town and when we got off work we went to Danville to eat dinner with my parents. This made me excited because I would get to see Anna this evening. Well when we got to my parents house, my mom told me that there had been an accident. I immediately thought of Anna, but I was holding her and she perfectly fine. Then I thought maybe she had pooped on my father because he was in the shower. Then I looked at my mom and she was crying and said that Demi, one of our dogs, had been chasing a squirrel this morning and got hit by a car. My mom said she died instantly and didn't even yelp. The car didn't even stop!!!! This breaks my heart. Demi was the first dog that I ever got on my own. When I moved out of parents house, my dad said that I couldn't take Demi because then Reggie, the other dog, would be lonely. Really he had just grown attatched to Demi. She was such a good dog and will be truely missed. My dad went and buried her in my meadow this afternoon. I am still crying. Below is a picture of my nephew Zay and Demi (it was the only digital pic I could find of her).

Pumpkin Carving

So this past weekend was way busy. My sister, her husband and their two boys came down from Indiana on Saturday to hang out. My house was not ready for the wrath of two growing boys! The day after they left, I was going into the guest bedroom and looked at the door handle and door...there was a little chocolate handprint and chocolate stripes all over. Just a little wipe and they were gone. Another really fun thing to do is jumping on the couch. It's okay...it needs to be broken in for Anna (which we will hopefully have paid off when she breaks them) So here is a picture of Anna and her two cousins from my side of the family (Baby Cash will be appearing in pictures in May 2008) Sawyer doesn't like to get too close!

On Sunday, we went out to my Aunt Kathy and Uncle Duane's house for a Pumpkin Carving Party. I love seeing all my family together. The cousins are more spread out, but 5 of us were there. Let me just tell you that it is never dull on the Belcher side of the family. All the great- grandkids carved pumpkins and everyone won a prize for their pumpkin. Anna won Most School Spirit for hers. Let me tell you that a 3 month old can really carve a pumpkin! (I think Wes had more fun than anyone else!) Great family, great food and great fun!

Big Pumpkin, Medium Pumpkin and Baby Pumpkin

Last Sunday, we went to Boyd's Orchards in Versailles to look at all the pumpkins and to pick out Anna's very first pumpkin. Wes, being the mood killer that he is, had to point out that Anna is too young to even draw on a pumpkin, let alone carve one out. She will not remember ever going to the pumpkin patch, but this is not the point. The point is to start traditions. I will remember Anna's first pumpkin patch experience. At the orchard they had this really cute height checker...you can't see the top of it (because Anna is way short) but it said "I was this tall in the Fall 2007"
Granted Wes was right and Anna fell asleep on the way to the orchard and was asleep for most of the visit, but I still had fun. They had lots of crafts, apple cider, apple cider donuts and pumpkin donuts. Maybe next year Anna will be walking around and enjoy it more and be able to go down the slides and hayride in the years after that. So much to look forward to!

Introductions

So I am jumping on the bandwagon and starting a blog. Don't know anyone who will read this (except for Marissa and maybe Lane), but you never know.

So a little introduction to who we are. Wes is from South Central Kentucky, Glasgow, and currently works at a factory in Nicholasville. He spent 6 years in the Navy and has absolutely no plans of ever going back in. I, Jessika, am from Central Indiana, Cicero, but moved down in 1999 to attend the University of Kentucky. It took me about 7 years, yes I had a 3 year break, to get my degree in Sociology....and what do I do with it now? Nothing. I have been working at a car dealership in Lexington for the last 3 1/2 years. They just keep moving me around...as of today I have been relocated to all 4 buildings on the complex in the past year (and I was gone for 10 weeks on maternity leave). We live together in Nicholasville, we are not married and don't forsee it in the near future. It works right now and we like to stick to things that work. Why try to fix something when it's not broken? My father has dubbed our household "The House of Sin", but he will eventually get over it because we gave him his first granddaughter. Which brings us to Miss Anna Clarke Cummings.

Anna is just over 3 months old now and is a happy, healthy baby. She is our miracle. She had a pretty rough start, being born with gastroschisis (which is an abdominal wall defect) and had to have surgery when she was just 2 hours old. She spent 13 days in the NICU (not bad considering they told us she would be in there for 2 to 8 weeks) and we finally got to bring her home! She brings us so much joy and happiness. She was born July 12, 2007 at 12:11pm, weighing in at 5 lbs 12 oz. and 16 inches long (she's a shorty) She just recently started filling out and is beginning to get rolls on the legs, I just love it!

Oh yeah! I almost forgot the ruler of the house: Fat Pete. This pic was when we first got him back in May. He is now 5 months old and weighs a whooping 4 lbs. Being a puppy still, he is into everything. He just can't stand not to have the attention on him and he will tell you by chomping on your toes, but everybody loves Fat Pete!!
